BiographyL. Brunson White is the first cabinet level information technology executive in the state’s history. Sworn in by Governor Robert J. Bentley in April of 2013, Secretary White retired from Energen Corporation in January of 2013 after 33 years of service. While with Energen he served in numerous capacities including serving as Chief Information Officer as well as Senior Vice President of Business Development.
Mr. White has been active in the community serving on the boards of over 20 different nonprofit organizations. His is a trustee emeritus and past chair of the Arthritis Foundation. Secretary White is a graduate from the University of Alabama’s School of Commerce and Business Administration. He is a graduate of Leadership Birmingham and Leadership Alabama. He serves on the Board of the Alabama Supercomputer Authority and the Executive Committee of the Greater Alabama Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
Secretary White lives in Vestavia Hills
with his wife and two sons.
