Biography
H. Samuel Orth, III, was appointed the chief information officer for the state of Ohio on January 30, 2009. He had served in an interim capacity since October 17, 2008.Orth has a varied background in IT leadership and management, including infrastructure, architecture, networking, and policy. Prior to his appointment as interim CIO, Orth served as the administrator for Enterprise IT Architecture & Policy.
Orth also led the former Ohio SchoolNet Commission as executive director. During his tenure with SchoolNet, he implemented more than $882 million in technology projects for K-12 schools in the state of Ohio.
In addition to his state experience, which began in 1996, Orth has 16 years of private sector IT experience.
