Biography
David Taylor has been the State Chief Information Officer and Executive Director for the Agency for Enterprise Information Technology since July of 2008. He reports to the Governor and Cabinet members for the State of Florida. Mr. Taylor oversees the development and facilitation of statutory enterprise services and state data center consolidation. He currently is an advisor to the boards of trustees for two of the state’s primary data centers (the Southwood Shared Resource Center and the Northwood Shared Resource Center) and is a member of the Domestic Security Oversight Council. He also serves on the Department of Homeland Security’s Local, State, Tribal, and Federal Preparedness Task Force – a council of experts charged with assessing the state of the nation’s disaster preparedness and making recommendations to Secretary Napolitano about ways to build resiliency in communities across America.In 2010, Mr. Taylor was honored to receive the ComputerWorld’s Premier 100 IT Leaders award for his enterprise IT vision for Florida government.
Mr. Taylor was previously the Chief Information Officer of the Florida Department of Health beginning in 2003. This position entailed overall authority for IT services and management for a 17,000 employee organization with 2.9 billion in budget. IT expenditures exceed 60 million dollars per year.
Mr. Taylor holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts - Lowell. He also holds a Masters degree in Public Administration from the University of Central Florida.
