GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS & ADVOCACY | NASCIO DC Fly-In
2011 NASCIO DC Fly-In
May 4, 2011In conjunction with the NASCIO Midyear Conference each year, a delegation of state CIOs, state policy leaders, and association staff convene in Washington D.C. for one day to meet with members of Congress, their staff, federal agency officials and state association partners during its Washington, D.C. Fly-in. As a key facet of NASCIO's advocacy and government affairs outreach, this annual event is intended to establish and strengthen relationships at the federal and partner level. The goal is to deliver NASCIO's message on priority policy issues such as cyber security, IT funding reform, information sharing, health care IT, privacy and telecommunications reform.
The meetings provide an opportunity to reinforce recognition of NASCIO as the primary resource for federal policy makers on state information technology issues. Equipped with Calls for Action, issue briefs and background material, NASCIO members are prepared to educate and share the association's position on critical IT policy issues. For the 2011 Fly-in, participants may attend informational briefings and discussions by federal agencies and partner associations on these issues. The annual D.C. Fly-In is open to state CIOs, state policy leaders or their designated proxy only. Registration is required to participate.
