Green IT Video Working Group
NASCIO's Green IT Video Working Group produced a short persuasional DVD to raise awareness among state policy officials such as Governors, legislators and appointed officials about the critical role that IT can play in implementing green initiatives in the states. This video highlights the ways in which states are already incorporating green efforts into their IT strategic plans, and how state CIOs are helping to lead the way - and why CIO involvement is critical.Committee Deliverables:

Innovative Funding for State IT Working Group
Purpose: The NASCIO Executive Committee has charged the Innovative Funding Working Group to address issues related to successful innovative funding models that enable states to deliver savings, and improve services to citizens.Goals and Objectives: The goal of the Innovative Funding Working Group is to provide members of NASCIO with information and tools for the facilitation of innovative funding efforts. Objectives include:
- Updating NASCIO’s 2003 report on innovative funding, “Innovative Funding for Innovative State IT: New Trends and Approaches for State IT Funding.”
- Conducting interviews with former state respondents to NASCIO’s 2003 Corporate Leadership Council (CLC) survey that examined the states’ use of innovative funding models for technology projects.

Legacy Systems & Modernization Working Group
Purpose: The NASCIO Executive Committee has charged the Legacy Systems & Modernization Working Group to address the many strategies, options and approaches states are considering to modernize state IT legacy systems and legacy applications.Goals and Objectives: The goal of the Legacy Systems & Modernization Working Group is to provide members of NASCIO with information and tools for the enhancement to the technical environment of existing legacy applications; re-engineer commercial "off-the-self" software; convert or translate to newer languages and platforms; extend systems to Web-based applications and presentation layers; utilize Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) to encapsulate and link legacy applications; and other issues such as renovation, extension, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), data conversion, applications wrapping, and use of automation tools. Objectives include:
- Preparing and delivering products to assist state CIOs and lawmakers understand the challenges states are facing with the aging of their IT systems and provide solutions and strategies to assist states with the transition to a modernized enterprise atmosphere.
