Information Security Committee

Interoperability and Integration Committee
The Interoperability and Integration Committee was charged with addressing issues related to public safety communications, spectrum management, data sharing and integration, seamless government and emerging enterprise technologies such as wireless and IP-based solutions. IT Governance and Services Reform Committee
The IT Governance and Services Reform Committee was charged with addressing issues related to government IT organizational models, including business process improvement, reorganizations and consolidation, and funding models, approaches and alternatives. The committee focused on service delivery issues involving both internal and external customers, including shared services and delivering transparent one-stop services to the public. The committee identified emerging trends and issues related to IT governance and services and developed briefs and related research materials.Chair: Steve Schafer, IT Financial Solutions, State of Nebraska

IT Procurement Reform Committee
The IT Procurement Reform Committee was charged with increasing the value NASCIO members receive from IT procurements and improving the overall procurement process. The committee provided recommendations and guidance on IT procurement best practices, focusing on specific topics such as IT contract terms, including intellectual property clauses; RFPs (Requests for Proposals); and the importance of the connection between IT Procurement and Enterprise Architecture. The committee also served as a point of coordination with the federal government and other governmental and private sector entities interested in IT procurement issues.Chair: Richard Thompson, CIO, State of Maine

Privacy Committee
The Privacy Committee was charged with monitoring and evaluating the privacy implications of existing and emerging information technologies in the government sector. The committee focused on keeping state CIOs current on privacy issues associated with these technologies, emphasizing the protection of personal data, citizen trust and confidence in government, and identity management and theft concerns.Chair: Les Nakamura, Administrator, Information and Communication Services Division, State of Hawaii
