Health Information Technology Committee

The Health Information Technology Committee was charged with extending relationships various federal, state and non-profit entities (e.g., HHS's Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT, the eHealth Initiative, NGA, etc.), promoting the role of the state CIO at relevant health IT forums, and produce additional guidance/tools that will help state CIOs make their way to "the table" armed with knowledge about the key environmental drivers and potential solutions for the immediate and emerging HIT concerns in their states. The Committee built on NASCIO deliverables such as the "Role of the State CIO in Health IT" issue brief and the "State Health IT Value Chain." The Committee reviewed opportunities for NASCIO to contribute to HHS contract awards designed to address the variation in the business level policies and state laws that affect privacy and security practice and pose challenges to heath information exchange.
