NASCIO Past President Honored as Public Official of the Year
Governing magazine recently named Aldona Valicenti as one of nine government executives to win its prestigous award recognizing Public Officials of the Year. Valicenti, chief information officer for the Commonwealth of Kentucky, served as NASCIO's 2000-2001 president and is currently a member of the association's executive committee.
Governing magazine selected Valicenti, Kentucky's first CIO, for her pioneering efforts made in transforming state business processes to meet the demands of an electronic world. Her leadership and involvement at NASCIO have also served to promote the role of a CIO on a national level and has paved the way for other states to create CIO positions.
