NASCIO Elects New Leadership

(Lexington, KY) - The National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO) re-elected Gerry Wethington, CIO for the state of Missouri, to a second term as NASCIO President at its Annual meeting in Scottsdale, Arizona on September 7th, 2003. The membership also elected several new officers and directors for the organization. The following are the new and returning officers and directors.

Vice-President-Tom Jarrett, CIO, Delaware (re-elected)
Secretary/Treasurer-Brian Wolf, CIO, Montana
Past-President-Rock Regan, CIO, Connecticut

Stuart McKee, CIO, Washington
Carolyn Walton, CIO, Arkansas

New Directors
W. Val Oveson, CIO, Utah
Terry Savage, CIO, Nevada

President Wethington will shortly be naming a new Director to fill the position vacated by Brian Wolf upon his election as Secretary/Treasurer. Separately, NASCIO's Corporate Leadership Council elected P.K. Agarwal, Vice-President at ACS, as its new Chairman, and Holli Ploog, Vice-President and General Managing Principal, Global Public Sector at Unisys, as Vice-Chair.

"I am deeply honored to have been chosen by my peers for a second term as NASCIO President," stated Wethington. "After a year of dramatic turnover in CIOs, NASCIO is united around its mission to foster government excellence through quality business practices, information management and technology policy. The coming year promises to be an exciting and dynamic time for the organization, and NASCIO is meeting these opportunities with a newly refocused strategic and business plan. I look forward to working with our state, federal and local partners to advance our common goals."

NASCIO represents the state chief information officers from the 50 states, six U.S. territories and the District of Columbia. Members include cabinet and senior level state officials responsible for information resource management. Other IT officials participate as associate members and private sector representatives may become corporate members.
