A Record Number of State CIOs to Convene for Spring Meeting
(Lexington, KY) - The National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO) will convene for its Midyear meeting at the Hyatt Regency in Chicago, Illinois on April 25-27. CIOs from 31 states have registered for the event- a record number of state CIOs attending a Midyear conference. In addition, policy officials such as chiefs of staff and state budget officers will also be in attendance. The conference is an opportunity for the key technology policy makers in each state to share information and develop new initiatives.
Jonathan Zittrain, Co-founder, Harvard Law School's Berkman Center for Internet and Society, will give the keynote address. Other speakers include Amit Yoran, Director of Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) National Cyber Security Division, and Chiefs of Staff from Alabama, North Dakota and Virginia discussing public policy strategies and how they view IT's role in policy development and implementation.
One of the highlights of the conference will be the presentation of the 2004 NASCIO Technology Champion Award, which honors outstanding achievements by an individual in the field of information technology. The winner will be announced at the Technology Champion Award luncheon on Monday, April 25. A press release announcing the winner will be issued immediately following the luncheon.
The conference program will include sessions addressing timely issues such as government without borders, collaboration with elected officials, the Help America Vote Act and cybersecurity.
The conference will end with a state CIO and corporate member roundtable addressing global IT outsourcing. Information Technology Association of America (ITAA) President Harris Miller will moderate the discussion.
