NASCIO’s D.C. Fly-In to Focus on Cybersecurity

(Chantilly, VA)—Today state Chief Information Officers (CIOs) from around the nation converged on Washington D.C. to participate in the seventh annual DC Fly-In, hosted by the National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO).

Forty state representatives participated in NASCIO’s 2007 DC Fly-In, and took the opportunity to meet with members of Congress, committee staff and executives from federal executive branch agencies, as well as NASCIO’s strategic partners, to discuss critical issues and emerging trends in the state information technology (IT) arena. NASCIO's 2007 policy issues for federal action focus on strengthening national Cybersecurity through state homeland security program funding. "The DC Fly-In allows state CIOs from across the country to come together and speak with a unified voice about important IT policy issues,” said NASCIO President and Michigan CIO Teri Takai. “We are able to collaborate with our peers to share knowledge and expertise with Congressional leaders and officials from all levels of government in a way that can really have a positive impact on IT policies that affect the states and their citizens.”

The National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO) is the premiere network and resource for state chief information officers (CIOs) and an effective advocate for IT policies at all levels of government. NASCIO represents the state CIOs from the 50 states, six U.S. territories and the District of Columbia. Members include cabinet and senior level state officials responsible for information resource management. Other IT officials participate as associate members and private sector representatives may become corporate members.
