NASCIO Presents Alan Shark with Prestigious Technology Award

BALTIMORE, Md., Friday, May 11 — The National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO) has awarded Alan Shark, chief executive officer and executive director of the Public Technology Institute, with the association’s 2012 NASCIO Technology Champion (NTC) award. Shark received recognition for his outstanding contributions promoting government performance excellence through sound information technology solutions, policies and practice. The award was presented this morning, during the NASCIO Midyear Conference in Baltimore, Md.

“It is my pleasure to honor Alan with NASCIO’s 2012 Technology Champion award,” said Dugan Petty, NASCIO president and Oregon chief information officer. “Alan has championed and practiced excellence in technology-enabled management and good government. He strives to improve state CIOs’ awareness of strategic IT issues and solutions, as well as identify and promote best practices and innovations among the states.”

NASCIO presents the NTC award on an annual basis to acknowledge pioneers who promote excellence in both technology and good government. Nominees may be an elected or appointed official representing federal, state or local government, an academician, author, journalist, or an individual from the non-profit or private sector.
