NASCIO Establishes New State Technology Champion Award

On June 15, NASCIO announced the creation of a new award program recognizing individual contributions to information technology policy and practice at the state level - the NASCIO State Technology Champion Award. Through this award, the association strives to acknowledge state leaders who promote innovation, excellence and good government. The inaugural recipient will be announced during a ceremony at NASCIO's Annual Conference on October 26 in Austin, Texas.
Nominations will be accepted through August 3, 2009 and can be submitted online at www.nascio.org/awards/stc.
The selection of the 2009 honoree will be based on two general criteria:
- The State Technology Champion is an individual whose personal leadership has made a critical contribution to the effective use of information technology by state government.
- The State Technology Champion is also an innovator whose work has made demonstrable impacts to advance information technology as an effective tool for government.
Nominees must be an employee, elected official, appointed official or other appointee representing state government. The ideal candidate has demonstrated a broad-ranging impact felt statewide or beyond. For more information, please visit www.nascio.org/awards/stc.
