National Technology Champion Award Nominations are Now Open

NASCIO is now accepting nominations for the 2010 National Technology Champion Award. The award recognizes one individual annually for outstanding contributions in the field of information technology in the public sector. NASCIO strives to acknowledge innovators who promote excellence in both technology and good government. Nominees should have a proven track-record of sustained interest in and advocacy for IT in the public sector. For more information or to submit a nomination visit www.nascio.org/awards/ntc. Nominations will be accepted through January 20, 2010.

Help Plan the Midyear Conference Agenda

NASCIO's Programs Committee is collecting suggestions for speakers and session topics for the 2010 Midyear Conference. This is an opportunity to help ensure that the conference program addresses issues of interest and importance to you. Please use the Call for Ideas form to enter your suggestions online. The Programs Committee will utilize these suggestions as starting point in planning the conference program. The deadline for submitting ideas is Friday, January 8, 2010.

MARK YOUR CALENDAR - The 2010 Midyear Conference is April 28-30, 2010 at the Hyatt Regency in Baltimore Maryland. The Sponsorship Opportunities will open on January 6, 2010 at 12:00 pm ET. Note: Certain sponsorships are limited in quantity and will be available on a first come, first served basis. Conference registration will open on February 1, 2010.

Director Named to the Executive Committee

NASCIO President Steve Fletcher appointed Greg Wass, State of Illinois CIO, as a new Director on the NASCIO's Executive Committee.

Committee & Work Group Updates

The Enterprise Architecture & Governance Committee will sponsor a series on Best Practices and Innovations. The first forum "State Collaboration to Reduce Prescription Drug Abuse and Diversion" will be Tuesday, January 12 from 2:00 - 3:00 pm ET. Learn how states are employing Prescription Drug Monitoring Programs to address prescription drug abuse and diversion. The forums are for state members only. Be sure to save the date. Dial-in information will be provided at a later date.

All members are encouraged to get involved in NASCIO committee and working group activities for the 2009-2010 program year. Currently we are looking for volunteers for the following Committees and Working Groups:
