NASCIO Co-Sponsor of PTI Health Care IT Summit in Atlanta, January 30-31, 2008
NASCIO will co-host the PTI Health Care IT Summit along with the National Association of Counties (NACo) and the Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG). Public Technology Institute (PTI) is a national, non-profit technology research and development organization created by and for cities and counties. The intent of the summit is to start a dialog among government leaders at the local, state, and federal levels, on the role of IT in improving delivery of health care services. NASCIO members may register at the PTI member rate. The registration fee for members is $295. Registration Deadline: January 25, 2008. NASCIO on the Road
- NASCIO Executive Director Doug Robinson will moderate a panel and speak at Governing Outlook in the States on January 30 in Washington D.C. The topic of the panel is Managing Government's Data - Challenge and Opportunities.
- NASCIO Issues Coordinator, Stephanie Jamison will represent NASCIO at the Public Technology Institute (PTI) inaugural Health Care IT Summit. Local, state and federal government leaders responsible for the management and delivery of health care services are expected to come together at the first Summit on Health Care Information Technology, to be held January 30-31, 2008 in Atlanta, Georgia. NASCIO is a co-sponsor of the Summit.
- NASCIO Issues Coordinator, Eric Sweden attended the Global Infrastructure and Standards Working Group (GISWG), Executive Architecture Committee Planning Call held on Friday, January 4th. The committee reviewed the proposed 2008 project proposals and budgets for 2008. GISWG is a committee under the Global Justice Information Sharing Initiative that is continued to add references to a growing library on Service Oriented Architecture implementation for state and local government. - Eric Sweden, NASCIO Issue Coordinator, will attend the final report meeting of the Kansas Collaborative initiative led by Bill Roth, Chief Enterprise Architect on January 24 in Topeka, Kansas.
Committee & Work Group Updates
- The Enterprise Architecture Committee will be closely collaborating with the National States Geographic Information Council (NSGIC) on delivering technical assistance to state CIOs in employing Geospatial Resources to enable strategic business intent. Sweden is conducting interviews with state GIS Coordinators and other experts in GIS to map Geospatial Resources to the NASCIO Top Ten CIO Priorities.
The Enterprise Architecture Committee is querying state and local government for examples of Governance models that reflect collaborative relationships between business and IT, and examples of business employing GIS capabilities. - The Corporate Leadership Council will hold its Face to Face meeting on February 26 in Reston, Virginia at the Oracle Building.
- The IT Security Video Working Group is on schedule to release the IT Security Awareness Video on January 30.
- NASCIO's State IT Workforce Working Group held its first call on Wednesday, January 9. The group discussed potential topics for the first research brief. They decided to focus on state IT employment recruitment and retention strategies as well as highlight state best practices in these areas.
