The 2018 Deloitte-NASCIO Cyber Study, the 5th biennial study, has been referred to as the most “comprehensive study of state-level cybersecurity spending” (White House FY19 Budget Request). The 2018 study, in which all 50 state CISOs participated, highlights perspectives and insights surrounding cybersecurity from state CISOs.
This webinar highlighted the study’s three bold plays, which are recommendations for state CISOs and CIOs to disrupt the status quo, and data from this year’s study on state cybersecurity budgets, talent and cyber threats.
The walleye is South Dakota’s state fish. The opportunity to catch this delicious and challenging sport fish draws many South Dakotans and tourists to the clear, blue waters across the state. Email phishing, on the other hand, is akin to the silver (flying) carp. In the best-case scenario, it is a nuisance, worst case it is very dangerous. Learn how the state of South Dakota educates and trains staff and elected officials from the threatening aspects of email phishing.
This webinar covered the findings of the 2018 Cost of a Data Breach study and how states are preparing for and responding to data breaches.
This is the first in a series of three, 30-minute webinars. Everyone is asking about scaling Agile, but that's the wrong question. We really need to ask, "How do we lead large, self-organizing teams?" It means strong leadership - just not the kind we're used to. Webinar one explored the forty-year march towards self-organization based on annual Gallup surveys and over two hundred assessments of large agile organizations performed by AgileCxO's partners.
Participants in this webinar learned about the methods by which state and national elections officials are preparing for upcoming elections. Both state and national leaders discussed current efforts to secure our elections process and national resources available to assist those who administer that process.
This webinar presents the basics concepts of multisourcing and the “New State CIO Operating Model.” The presentation covers an overview of the NASCIO Multisourcing Initiative which began in January of 2018 in partnership with Integris Applied, Inc. The framework and the maturity model that are being employed as major references throughout the project are presented and explained.
The project workplan includes a survey to be completed by each state and territory, and will be distributed in September 2018. This webinar provides background on the new State CIO Operating Model for those completing the survey. Preliminary results from the survey will be presented at the NASCIO 2018 Annual Conference.
The State of North Dakota sees the safety of the Internet and our citizens’ information as absolutely essential to our collective future. During this webinar, Shawn Riley expounded on how the North Dakota approach to cyber across their educational systems and workforce organizations will be accomplished and details of execution as North Dakota contributes to the cyber moonshot.
The 2018 Deloitte-NASCIO Cybersecurity Study will be the 5th of its kind. Listen to this webinar to learn about what has changed since the survey was released in 2010 and get a sneak peek at the 2018 survey.
Some states are offering flexible work hours, employee development and training, wellness programs and paid family leave to compete with the private sector and rightfully stand on their own in the recruitment and retention workforce game. And still, other states lag behind. We heard from Gerald Young, Senior Research Associate of the Center for State and Local Government Excellence, and Leslie Scott, Executive Director of the National Association of State Personnel Executives (NASPE), on a look at where state government workforce has been and where it might go.
Pew interviewed over 350 state leaders across the U.S. and reviewed relevant laws, documents, and policies in all the states to produce a report detailing five key actions states can take to promote data-driven decision-making:
• Plan ahead by setting up guiding goals and structures.
• Build the state government's capacity to effectively use data.
• Ensure that quality data can be accessed and used by stakeholders.
• Analyze data to create meaningful information.
• Sustain support for continued data efforts.
This webinar provided a fresh understanding of the challenges facing state governments today, as well as insights on how they can capitalize on these key actions to promote data-driven decision-making.
