Nominations for the 2023-2024 Slate of Officers and Directors
The election of officers and directors will be held at the 2023 Annual Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota, during the Annual State Member Business Meeting.
Background: Officers and directors are the elected representatives that form the NASCIO Executive Committee. The Executive Committee is the association’s governance body and is responsible for guiding the strategic direction, government affairs and advocacy positions; general business; establishing policy, dues and; approving the annual work plan and budget. The Executive Committee also establishes committees, forums and working groups, receives recommendations and reports from various committees, considers special projects and monitors the performance of the association. Term: The term for NASCIO officers and directors is aligned with the program year, which is Annual Conference (October 8-11, 2023) in Minneapolis to Annual Conference (September 29 – October 2, 2024) in New Orleans, Louisiana
Commitment: NASCIO’s Executive Committee meets monthly via video conference calls (usually 1.5 hours) throughout the year and holds two in-person meetings at the conferences (usually 3-4 hours). Review of the materials is required before the meetings. The President may call additional special conference call meetings as necessary to address urgent or time sensitive matters of the association. Officers and Directors are expected to attend the NASCIO Annual and Midyear conferences as well as the State CIO Leadership Summit. Executive Committee members may lead other forums/committees and may be asked to represent NASCIO on federal advisory or other external committees, attend strategic partner events, speak or testify on behalf of the association and contribute to NASCIO workshops and leadership summits.

2023-2024 nominations are being accepted for the following positions:
Eligibility/Term Limits: Officers of the association must be the highest-ranking IT official as determined by a state and the state must be current with member dues. Officers are eligible to serve in a particular office for a maximum of three consecutive one-year terms.
- President – the elected leader, strategist and spokesperson of the association, working with staff and Executive Committee Leadership
- Vice President – in the event of temporary absence or resignation of the President, the Vice President shall perform and be vested with all the President’s powers and duties. In the event the President resigns or is unable to complete a term of office; the Vice President shall succeed the President and complete the President’s term of office. The Vice President customarily served as chair of the Programs Committee.
- Secretary-Treasurer – The Secretary-Treasurer is charged with the responsibility for all matters related to association finances and budgeting as well as resource assessment for new projects. The Secretary-Treasurer customarily serves as chair of the Audit Committee.
Directors (4 positions)
Eligibility/Term Limits: Eight Directors serve as members of the Executive Committee and represent matters at large before the association. Each year, four (4) directors are elected for staggered two-year terms. There is no limit to the number of consecutive two-year terms a Director may serve. Directors of the association must be the highest-ranking IT official as determined by their state and the state must be current with member dues. Four (4) director positions are available for the 2023-2024 program year.
