Award Details

Who can be nominated?

  • State government employees with an active role in the implementation or oversight of technology innovations
  • State CIOs, elected officials and contract employees are NOT eligible

Who can submit a nomination?

  • Nominations are only accepted from individuals employed by a NASCIO member organization
  • NASCIO corporate members may only submit one nomination per company
  • Self nominations are not accepted

How is the Recipient Selected?

  • The NASCIO Executive Committee draws heavily on their expertise as leaders in state technology and focuses on the framework outlined below

What Should be Included in The Nomination?

  • The nomination should focus on the nominee’s leadership and contributions
  • Nominations that focus on an individual’s relationship with a company and/or the use or implementation of specific services or platforms will NOT be considered
  • The nomination focuses on two questions:
    • How has the nominee’s leadership advanced technology innovation in state government?
    • What measurable impact has the nominee’s work had on government operations, services or outcomes?

limit of ~250 words (1600 characters) – Describe the nominee’s personal contributions, leadership and influence – Explain how their efforts introduced new approaches, improved practices or helped advance the state’s technology priorities – Nominee’s work should stand independent of any product, platform or supplier – Preference given to contributions that align with NASCIO’s State CIO Top Ten Priorities
limit of ~250 words (1600 characters) – Describe the results of the nominee’s efforts and how they improved services, operations or public value – Include specific outcomes and measurable results whenever possible – Impact should extend past cost-savings, focusing on how technology can create positive impact for citizens – Nominations should refrain from naming specific products and platforms (unless a product is new and crucial for understanding the nominations) and focus on how the application of the technology/implementation is new and different
