  • CONFERENCE: What can I expect from the conference format?

    There are no product demos or an exhibit floor. Instead, the agenda is designed to support dialogue, collaboration and practical discussions.

  • CONFERENCE: What is the dress code?

    NASCIO conferences are business casual. However, attendee attire ranges from business casual to business formal. Evening events are also business casual; if specific attire is appropriate, attendees will be notified.

    Don’t forget your most important accessory – your name badge! NASCIO name badges must be worn for entry into NASCIO sessions, events and networking receptions.

  • CONFERENCE: What’s a NASCIO conference like?

    NASCIO conferences focus on relationship building, peer learning and collaborative problem-solving among attendees. The emphasis is on meaningful conversations and partnerships centered on the needs of the states.

     

  • CONFERENCE: Who typically attends a NASCIO conference?

    On average, NASCIO conferences include:

    • Representation from all 50 states
    • 46 state CIOs
    • 192 state members
    • 944 total attendees

  • POLICIES: Can my company exhibit or hold a demo at the conference?

    No, conferences do not have an exhibit hall, trade show or product demos. Conferences focus on relationships, not products, and are education and networking based.

    From Corporate Member Policy: No exhibits and/or demonstrations of any type are permitted inside or on conference hotel property.

  • POLICIES: Can my company hold an event (meeting, reception, etc.) during the conference?

    Yes, provided there is a 30-minute buffer from the beginning or conclusion of NASCIO’s event and the start time of your event. No events may be held in the morning.

    NASCIO will not endorse companion events. NASCIO corporate members, partner entities, conference sponsors and attendees are expressly prohibited from holding in-person or virtual events that run concurrently with NASCIO conference sessions, meetings, or any other conference-related events.

    From Corporate Member Policy: NASCIO corporate members, partner entities, conference sponsors, and attendees are expressly prohibited from holding events/hosted meetings that run concurrently with NASCIO conference sessions, meetings, meals, receptions, or any other conference-related events. There must be a thirty-minute buffer from the conclusion of our event and the start time of your event/hosted meeting. NASCIO will not endorse companion events.

  • POLICIES: Can we share marketing/promotional material during the event?

    No marketing materials may be distributed at NASCIO conferences (event venue or conference app). This includes any promotional or branded giveaways.

    Gifts or other amenities may not be sent to the hotel room of any public sector attendee.

    Media outlets may distribute printed publications in the designated area.

  • REGISTRATION: Can we purchase additional registrations?

    No, registrations are limited by member type.

  • REGISTRATION: Do you accept cancellations or substitutions?

    Substitutions are always complimentary; a registered attendee may designate someone within the same company to take their spot.

    If a registered attendee must cancel, a refund (minus a $200 administrative fee) will be issued if written notice is provided by April 20. No refunds are given for cancellations made after registration closes (April 20) or for no-shows.

  • REGISTRATION: How can I attend?

    Conferences are open to NASCIO members only.

    To ensure members can connect and collaborate at in-person events, organizations are limited in how many representatives they may send:

    • Corporate Members: 3 paying attendees at $1,495 per person (additional registrations included in sponsorship packages)
    • Nonprofit & Academic Members: 2 paying attendees at $895 per person
    • State Members: no limit on attendees; no registration fee

  • REGISTRATION: How many attendees can a member organization register?

    Corporate Members: max of 3 representatives (the only exception is those that purchase conference sponsorship packages; the number of registrations permitted for sponsors is based on sponsorship level purchased)

    Nonprofit/Academic/Government (non-state) Members: max of 2 representatives

    State Members: no limit

  • REGISTRATION: I’m a member of the media, what do I need to know?

    Can media attend NASCIO conferences?
    Yes! Reporters covering the conference (e.g., articles, interviews) may attend. Passes will not be issued to those who work for media outlets but who are not covering the conference (e.g. account executive).

    Is there a cost for media to attend?
    No, there is no registration fee for media.

    How do I register?
    Invitations will be emailed once registration is open. If you do not receive one, contact Meredith Ward.

    How many representatives can attend?
    Each media entity may send up to 3 representatives.

    Are there any guidelines for media attending NASCIO conferences?
    Yes, media must adhere and agree to NASCIO’s media terms and conditions.

  • REGISTRATION: What is the cost to attend?

    Corporate Members

    • $1,495 per person

    Government, Academic & Nonprofit Members

    • $895 per person

    State Members

    • No registration fee
    • State member attendees are responsible for all travel and accommodation expenses, except for the State/Territory CIO (or proxy) and two additional state policy leaders (as identified by the state CIO)

  • REGISTRATION: Where can I find a list of attendees?

    When registrations opens, a heat map depicting which states have registered will be made available on the conference webpage.

    About a week before the conference, all attendees will have access to the NASCIO Conferences App, which includes a roster of attendees. Post-conference (about 1 week after), all attendees will receive a PDF roster of those individuals in attendance.

  • SPEAKING: How can I speak or present?

    Conferences feature professional speakers for keynote sessions and largely utilize members for topical sessions.

    NASCIO does not host a call for abstracts/proposals. Session topics and speakers flow through the NASCIO programs committee. Members should watch the NASCIO Community for ad-hoc speaking opportunities.
